Prashant Kishor Warns BJP Cannot Save Banshidhar Brijwasi, Rahul Raj from Disqualification
Prashant Kishor has predicted the disqualification of Bihar MLCs Banshidhar Brijwasi and Rahul Raj after they joined the BJP, challenging the party to prevent the action and outlining Jan Suraj's next legal steps.
Opposition parties have been mounting pressure over the issue. Speaking to journalists in Begusarai, Prashant Kishor said the disqualification of the two independent members was inevitable because their actions amounted to a violation of constitutional provisions.
"Independent candidates who won the MLC elections and subsequently joined the BJP are certain to lose their membership. Nobody can save them. Even if the BJP is in power here and it is being claimed that the party will protect them because it is in government, that is not how things work. You have committed a mistake and an unconstitutional act, and action will certainly be taken against it," Kishor said.
He further stated that Jan Suraj had already submitted a petition to the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council in the capacity of a petitioner. He added that Afak Ahmed, the party's candidate from the Saran Teachers' Constituency, and Vimohan, its candidate from the Tirhut Graduates' Constituency, would also submit petitions to the Deputy Chairman.
Kishor expressed confidence that the Deputy Chairman would deliver justice, describing him as a capable and learned person. He said action should be taken against the alleged constitutional violation.
"We believe that the Deputy Chairman is a competent and learned person and will deliver justice. Action must be taken against the constitutional violation that has taken place. If that does not happen, we will also approach the court. But under all circumstances, their membership must go," he said.
Kishor added that the party would first wait for the Deputy Chairman's decision. If the decision was not in accordance with the Constitution, Jan Suraj would challenge it in court. The final decision on the membership of Banshidhar Brijwasi and Rahul Raj remains pending.
Jan Suraj to Contest Panchayat Elections with Full Strength: Prashant Kishor
Separately, Prashant Kishor announced that the Jan Suraj Party would contest the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections with full strength.
Speaking at a district executive committee workshop organised at Dinkar Bhawan in Begusarai district on Wednesday, Kishor said electing capable candidates in the Panchayat elections would help curb corruption. He added that the greater the number of Jan Suraj candidates who won, the stronger public confidence in the party would become.
He urged party workers to work hard to strengthen the organisation and improve its electoral prospects. Describing Jan Suraj as a better political platform, Kishor said candidates must also establish their individual identities and connect with people by actively participating in public struggles.
He cautioned party workers against relying solely on electoral equations or political connections. Taking a selfie with a prominent leader would not guarantee electoral success, he said, adding that it was society that created leaders.
Kishor stressed that winning elections required sustained hard work. According to him, victories without effort were exceptions, comparable to winning a lottery, and a person's future could not depend on such chances. He urged candidates to set clear goals and work honestly towards achieving them.
He also said the party's organisational structure was being reorganised to strengthen its presence on the ground rather than merely on paper. Transparency was being increased as part of the process, he added, describing organisational development as a continuous exercise.
Kishor said Jan Suraj had established its identity in society and that the party would make every possible effort to fulfil the promises made during the MLC elections.
He also assured that the party would continue to fight firmly and sincerely for the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission pay scale for teachers.
